Dear Osteopathic Physicians,
I am writing to inform you about a pressing issue that may affect your patients who are enrolled in Medicaid. Starting in May 2023, some of your patients may face the risk of losing their Medicaid coverage due to a process called "redetermination."
Redetermination is a periodic review of Medicaid eligibility, which takes place every 12 months. During this process, Medicaid beneficiaries must provide updated information to confirm their eligibility for the program. Failure to comply with the redetermination requirements may result in the termination of Medicaid coverage.
As Osteopathic physicians, we understand the importance of maintaining Medicaid coverage for our patients, particularly those who are vulnerable and depend on this program for their healthcare needs. Therefore, we must take action to help our patients complete the redetermination process and avoid losing their Medicaid coverage.
Fortunately, the Florida Medicaid program offers resources and assistance to help beneficiaries complete their redetermination process. Patients can access the Florida Medicaid Member Handbook, which provides detailed information on how to redetermine their eligibility for Medicaid. Additionally, Florida Medicaid offers an online portal, the "MyACCESS" account, which allows beneficiaries to submit their redetermination documents electronically.
As healthcare professionals, we can play a vital role in assisting our patients with the redetermination process. We can remind our patients about the upcoming redetermination deadline, provide them with the necessary information and resources, and offer support in completing the process. By doing so, we can ensure that our patients maintain their Medicaid coverage and receive the care they need.
If you have patients who are at risk of losing their Medicaid coverage next month, I urge you to take action and help them complete their redetermination process. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our patients and ensure that they have access to quality healthcare. Thank you for your membership with the FOMA and for your contribution to quality care in Florida.
