2025 FOMA Osteopathic Medicine and health Awareness Day
The Florida Osteopathic Medical Association hosted its 30th Annual Osteopathic Medicine and Health Awareness Day on February 4-5, bringing together osteopathic medical students, physicians, and healthcare professionals in Tallahassee to engage with lawmakers and discuss healthcare initiatives. The event kicked off with an exciting visit to the Capitol, where attendees toured the House and Senate chambers, gaining a deeper understanding of Florida’s legislative process, and had a special visit from Senate President Ben Albritton, as he shared his support for osteopathic medicine.
Throughout the day, we had the privilege of meeting with key legislative leaders, including Senator Gayle Harrell, a champion for health policy, Representative Allison Tant, who plays a pivotal role in healthcare reform, and Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, who offered valuable insights into Florida’s healthcare financial challenges and opportunities. These conversations allowed us to share insights, discuss healthcare policy, and further strengthen the bond between the osteopathic community and lawmakers.
The event was a chance to learn firsthand about the legislative process and address policies that benefit both healthcare providers and patients. The 30th Annual Osteopathic Medicine and Health Awareness Day served as a reminder of the importance of advocacy in shaping healthcare policy and ensuring that the osteopathic profession remains a vital part of Florida's healthcare landscape. The connections made, and the conversations held, will help drive positive changes for the future of healthcare in Florida.
